Vienna — Canada Kuwait Petrochemical Corporation’s Alberta-based propane dehydrogentation and polypropylene project is set for Q2 2023 completion, a source at one of the partners in the project said Monday on the sidelines of 52nd annual EPCA conference in Vienna.

While the company’s front end engineering design study for the project is currently being finalized, the engineering procurement and construction contract for the project could be awarded in three months, the source said.
The 550,000 mt/year PDH unit would utilize about 22,000 b/d of Alberta-sourced propane and the polypropylene plant will produce up to 550,000 mt/year of polypropylene.
The project is a 50:50 joint venture between Kuwait’s Petrochemical Industries Company and Canada’s Pembina Pipeline Corporation.
