Man charged after imitation weapon fired near downtown business

Police have made an arrest after a man allegedly pointed an imitation firearm at an employee and then fired twice into the air.

The incident happened Saturday evening near the Cornwall Centre, as a staff member was leaving a business on the 2100 block of 11 Ave. According to a police press release, a man pointed what looked like a handgun at the staff member.

After firing shots into the air, police say the shooter left and began walking east on 11 Ave. Police responded by dispatching several vehicles and soon found a suspect matching the man’s description. They allegedly found an imitation firearm on his person.

Lance Wade Kakakaway, 30, is facing assault with a weapon charges, as well as numerous other weapons offences.
