Worker dies after fall from roof at Billy Bishop airport

The extent of the worker’s injuries are unclear.

Emergency services are on scene at Billy Bishop airport after an industrial accident was reported around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday morning.

A male worker reportedly fell from a roof at the airport, and was assessed by paramedics. He succumbed to his injuries on scene.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

“Earlier this morning a subcontractor with PCL Construction was involved in an industrial accident on the PCL construction site associated with the terminal upgrade at Billy Bishop Airport,” Ports Toronto spokesperson Jen Brailsford stated in an email to the Star.

“Billy Bishop Airport staff is fully cooperating with the investigation into this incident,” Brailsford said. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends of the gentleman involved in this accident, and are deeply saddened by this unfortunate turn of events.”

The Ministry of Labour has been notified, and confirmed they are responding to the incident.
