Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Nadia Burger on Tuesday congratulated Indonesia on the success of the Indonesian G20 Presidency and the G20 Summit in Bali in November 2022.

“During the G20 (Summit), Canada fully supports the event. We support, of course, the priorities and agenda of the (Indonesian) G20 Presidency,” she said during an exclusive interview with ANTARA at her residence in Jakarta on Tuesday.

The G20 Summit in Indonesia was attended by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly, and Minister of International Trade, SMEs, and Economic Development, Mary Ng, she noted.

“We are very pleased to see the communications produced after the summit, which contain a number of very important outcomes and that will help address a number of issues, such as global pandemic recovery, energy transition, digital transformation, digital economy, energy security, and food security,” Burger said.

Going forward, Canada will continue to see extraordinary results from the ongoing Summit meetings, she added.

India is the next chair of the G20 and under its leadership, Canada would like to see ambitious goals, she said.

Earlier, PM Trudeau had said that Indonesia was able to lead the G20 in the midst of a difficult situation and political tensions and succeeded in pushing for a final agreement at the G20 Summit.

The summit took place on November 15–16, 2022, in Nusa Dua, Bali, and resulted in an agreement that was summarized in a document called the Bali Declaration.

The document comprising 52 paragraphs outlines the G20‘s joint position on a number of issues related to food and energy security, global health architecture, and digital transformation.
