Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens has done his part to keep Team Canada unbeaten at the IIHF World Men’s Under-18 Championship.
Cozens scored twice and added three assists as Canada handed Belarus an 11-1 loss Sunday afternoon at Umea, Sweden.
The Hurricanes second-year forward touted to go high in this year’s NHL entry draft in June in Vancouver scored once in the second and again in the third to help Canada to the decisive victory.
Nathan Legare and Alex Newhook also had two goals apiece while Connor Zary, Jordan Spence, Braden Schneider, Peyton Krebs and Samuel Poulin added singles.
Canada outshot Belarus 60-42.
Canada started the tournament with a 5-3 win over Finland Thursday and downed Switzerland 7-4 Friday as Cozens scored once in that win.
Cozens and Canada have today off, but finish the round-robin Tuesday when they face the Czech Republic (2-0) at 11:30 a.m., local time.
The Czech Republic defeated Finland 4-2 Sunday.
The playoffs begin Thursday and the medal games are set for Sunday.
